A strange feeling has returned. After a few seasons of going to watch Wigan, not knowing whether they would win, last night I went expecting them to win like in the 'old' days.
I now expect them to beat Bradford away. Very strange.

Walking away from the ground last night had a strange 1990's retro feel about it. Happy days

I felt comfortable going in to last night`s game.

Most bookies were predicting a Wigan win by 14 - 16 points but I thought we were much better than that.

Should have taken a gamble !

How true!! There was a time back in the nineties when the entertainment had gone out of watching RL and the last ten years have really been what supporting a sporting club is all about: commitment, loyalty, not knowing which way the match is going to go etc. etc.
In fact there's another thread going elsewhere about how people much preferred last weeks game to last nights and although I'd whole heartedly agree with those sentiments the current performances, attitude, league table and optimism are stirring some very strange emotions in me, as Jimmy Birts says an almost retro feeling that I'd almost forgotten about.
It MAY BE, just MAY BE that now is the time for those feelings of invincibility and "simply the best" to return only this time (having not been around in the early eighties) it will mean so much more.

Texting the Mrs with the score at half time last night and an update on how we are playing, as I always do, I recalled the desperate messages I've been texting over the past few years. I was almost on the brink at one point of saving a standard message in my phone 'Fooking awful again, surrender monkeys the lot of em' sack the coach, why do I bother'

Hearing that last night also brought some memories flooding back tbh. However, I think we ought to wait and see before it makes a permanent come back. I've always thought that when they start playing that song again after home matches we would truly have announced our return.
