I think every Wire fan was surprised today to have Coops announce he was coming home in 2017 after 3 years in the NRL. He was more than good enough to stay on, in fact ST George were expecting as much.
Could the steady flow of good players going to the NRL become a steady flow of improved players returning to the Super League?
As an aside, there's a fair young British pack being built here....!
Hill 28
Clark 23
Cooper 27
Currie 21
Hughes 24
Westerman 26
A couple of those will be targeted by the NRL no doubt, but how long will they be there for?

I think we were all was surprised to read this not just wire fans but can only be good for super league, just shows that it isn't all one way traffic with him coming back and Tomkins another example.
It has to be a positive if the nrl target young English players like you say they probably will, means they get trained up to Aussie standard which can only improve the England team. And more simply it just shows that there is some great talent being produced in this country.

Glad Cooper is coming back. At 27 too, hitting his peak for a front rower so Warrington will probably get his best years now as he seems a polished product.

Joe Burgess is coming back to Wigan after just one year and not much game time. I think talk of an exodus to the NRL has been premature, it will always be an attraction to players but only the top top players make it and stay there in the long run. The only real surprise has been Josh Hodgson who was only steady and average in SL, but has ripped it up over there. Hopefully even after just a short spell there these players come back better players.
