Hopefully it's something we see more of, as it will show our academy is producing players of quality, SL is hardly awash with our academy products, the key will become knowing which players to retain and which players to allow to continue their career elsewhere, hopefully we've made the correct decision on this one.

Once we signed Nicholson, it seemed inevitable that we would release Longstaff.

Longstaff will develop into a very good player, and I wish him all the best with his future career.

Great engine and heart. If we could only have one of Longstaff and Nicholson however, I think Nicholson has the greater natural talent.

The lad has been superb. Shown our so called senior players what it means to play with heart, passion and commitment in every game he’s played.
It was no secret that Hodgson wanted to sign him permanently but said it wouldn’t be easy with him still having a year left on his contract but it’s sounding like a deal has been sorted (hopefully)

I know Nicholson came with a huge reputation, and had a great debut, but after that he was no more than steady.

Longstaff, Nicholson and Holroyd all have huge potential; I know we can't keep everyone but I can think of at least one backrower I'd sacrifice before any of them.

Club needs to build a squad around the best young British players. Saints have been great because they do exactly that, rhinos before that. Longstaff and Nicholson should be the start
