It would be good if they gave it to one of the good referees we use to have like Lindop, Thompson or Whitfield.

It seems his duties will be shared between Ian Smith and Jon Sharpe. I would like to see Ganson take over eventually, would be a shame for the sport to lose such a character once he hangs up his boots.

If the Aussies have Smith, can we have Harrigan, have some fresh blood for the league, he could help improve the standard.

Good riddance

The RFL have a set of rules, to which the game is played. The ref (should) see these are kept to. Why they need a boss, is anyone's business. If he's crap, he shouldn't be reffing at any level (why should championship rugby put up with them?)

I don't want a "character". As the song says "all we want is a decent referee". Ganson is a pr1ck of the highest order, with a "look at me" attitude, especially if it's a televised game.

Hopefully this will see an appointment to try and improve reffing standards and not just a yes-man or an ex-ref who doesn't want to upset his mates.

Standard and consistency of refs is at an all-time low and I agree with lefty all we need is someone to enforce the rules consistently, work with the coaches and players and remember we pay to see the players, not the officials.
